Building profits and MOats with Best Practice standards....(PT 2 Strategic Advantages for End 25/26 & exceptional start of 26/27 FY...)

You now have a clear strategy for a excellent last qtr for 25/26 FY. If not, click here for step by step..

So how do we make 26/27 in the excellent to exceptional range, and also reporting to your Board, or CEO (or yourself for the business owners!) in your May and June Reports to them!

Step 1: Review and check your Business Plan (don't do this the last week of JUNE!), and start preliminary rating (its only 10 weeks until end of FY!) for each component,

- Marketing (and Sales) Plan,

- Financial Plan (free cash flow estimations, are you on track? Balance sheet, structuring and debt levels?),

- Leadership and Culture Plan (Have the right staff performed as expected? is there in fighting-blame shifting, back biting, or is there empowerment within each silo and cross fertilisation?),

- Strategic Plan (Have the new markets, products and services worked?, do you think your brand power and penetration succeeded? too early and come back to this in end of May? suppliers?),

- Functional Plan and strategies (bottom up approach, systems, AI, operations, Training and development).

Step 2: Start at the Long-term Vision (Where do we want to be, who will we be, who are we serving etc) for the Business Plan for 2030+, and check if it still resonates. Go through the process of (you can just jot down key points, or you may have realised you should have a business folder for general reflectivity, I literally have a library of business journal books of business notes):

- Enterprise, Corporate, Business, Marketing (Sales), Leadership and Culture Strategies, that is review and adjust for each (for businesses at level 1-2 (under $ 10 Million revenue) Enterprise-Corporate-Business are usually collapsed into one, ie the same or similar),

- In May send out feedback to KEY or all STAFF (have it back by 1st week of June) , and their views of the FY25/26, cover off on Culture-Leadership, Market place, supply chains, clientele/customers, AI tech integration and so on...

HINT: Ask about renumeration, and ask them why they should have an increase!, This will give them an opportunity to unburden, unfold to unveil, in which will be some diamonds for you and your culture and leadership strategising and plans!

You could call this doc "25/26 a review, your thoughts and insight are needed and welcomed"

(Remember: you want the creative and inventive side of your staff flowing through your organisation!)

Step 3: If appropriate start sharing your findings with the CEO, Board and your ideas that you're formulating and researching for 26/27 for KAIZEN (continuous and positive improvements), always warn them beforehand (the soft hand influence approach) and "we recieving feed back from the market and staff" etc!

E.g. We are thinking of Staff Development, Improvement and Training and expensing it 25/26, new branding position, new marketing strategy for this market and so on.."Were just in the research and formulation stage,!"

I remember presenting twice to the same Board 50 Million+ company, and it was late october-november, it should have really been done 6 months prior. They were fundamentally stuck, due to being out of sync with the market, and financial year, but they had to do something NOW! (Especially their functional strategies)!

Be Ahead of the Curve i.e. time lines, your market and Industry!
