Even more Leadership and culture strategies for Sales Hyper Growth...Number Eleven of twelve...

Tuesday (22/7) I was invited to a "Board and Leadership Diversity" Webinar for the increase in pace of global markets, now being experienced in local markets (society diversity of consumption and needs) for nearly all business's, corporations and organisation. There was an excellent speaker out of the 4, Karina, an multinational board member.


The Key takeaways were:


1/ Multiple "Mental sets", "Mind Sets" and Mentality were required for understanding current and new markets,

2/ It is only going to go faster due the dynamism of technology, immigration and how it stimulates change (positively and negatively),

3/ Have a Leadership (Board) development and replacement plan,

4/ Include a Mentorship plan for new Leadership development,

5/ Put politics and position protection thinking and mentality at the door!


When we do consulting to CEO's and/or boards, the culture temperature can be quite stunning, from mellow to exuberance to indifference and so on. Board diversity is key, however, not at the cost of character and competence.


I remember on a particular presentation, after I finished, I sat down. And on my left was the CEO and on his left was the chairman. We listened to the board members, and after about 10 minutes, all three of us looked at each other. At the same time coming to the same conclusion. The board members-leadership team were being left behind, i.e. they didn't have the wherewithal nor competence due to the rate of change of their industry and macro forces!


Make sure your Leadership team is fresh, alive and up to speed on the industry, macro forces, day to day operations and the vision going forward.


Cultural, Gender, Ethnicity diversity is key for understanding new/current  markets...however make sure your Leadership/Executive Team have the character and competence first.....
