culture and Leadership Fundamentals...past/present/future Successes pt4
Continuous Improvement (Kaizen principle) in Culture and Leadership is a natural evolutionary process for improving NOT only productivity (KPI Metrics), but just as importantly the quality of the journey....
Buddha's philosophy of "its better to travel well than arrive" can be slightly amended to
"its better to travel well AND arrive well", which of course, is the climbing to the top of the business pyramid goal for your organisation.
Here is beginning process for building (developing, improving and growing, ie DIG) Culture and Leadership. A simple formulation for you to step your organisation through:
Do a quick self-analysis at a business level after reading the previous Blogs, and/or create individual "Dossiers" for your top candidates for new positions or taking over your organisation. You will find it a interesting exercise as your process through the traditional quadrant matrix of Tangible/Intangible with Character/Competence for this exercise. Then add in Cultural Fit....
Start with your top 5 employees, Yourself and your business.....It's always an interesting exercise. Once you have completed this process.... you can start building a more thorough "Culture and Leadership" Plan. This can be just a 1-page Executive Summary, or around 5-10 pages if you want a significant shift and improvement for Top Line-Bottom Line and higher productivity.
At STAR we usually go to the organisation for the first 1-4 interviews to see the operations, ambience, interactions and see the functional habits of the company. We then begin interviewing the top executives, owners and work our way down. Compiling a thorough understanding of the landscape and jig saw pieces of the organisation.
